NATURALISM did not emerge as a scientific religion until this 21st century because it is believed to be one of the prophetic signs of the end time; It was predicted that in the last days many people will be confused by signs and wonders that are occurring here and there. so, in an effort to find their own explanations, “Naturalism”, like many other groups, has been turned into an ideologic movement that trying to avert the dominion power of God the Father whom created all things in the nature to attributing credit to things. For instance, when a flood event is occurring, the naturalists say: ” Mother Nature is against us” instead of asking God to control the water.
Before the 21st century, Naturalism was a literary movement focusing on expressing their view in painting and arts. This movement was created by Emile Zola, a French author who believed that the universe is governs by the power of the material elements; and that catastrophic phenomenon is driving by the forces of natural things (elements). Those material things are waters, wind, fire, the sun, etc. The catastrophic phenomenon are floods, hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes, volcanos (lake of fire), global warming, etc. What Naturalism does not telling us is who created those things that causing catastrophic events! The Scriptures tell us: “In his hands are the deep places of the earth; the strength of the hills is his also. The sea is his, and he made it, and His hands formed the dry land” (Ps. 95: 4&5). Based on these verses, we should ask this question: does Naturalism an Atheism religion? Any group of people, or movement that trying to give credit to material elements instead of God who created those elements is rejecting God; and this is exactly what Atheism and Naturalism are proning.
THE ULTIMATE TRUTH is that material things cannot act independently, for their creator has absolute control of them. The Almighty God who created the universe, has created those “things” to be used by Him for pleasure, to bless the earth, and to judge the world.
How God uses elements for pleasure? The word of God tells us: “The Lord covers Himself with light as with a garment. He stretches out the heavens like a curtain, He lays the beams of his chambers in the waters, He makes the clouds His chariots. He walks upon the wings of the wind, He makes His angels spirits, His ministers a flaming fire” (Ps. 104: 2-4). How God uses elements to bless the earth? “He sends the springs unto the valleys which run among the hills. They give drink to every beast of the field; the wild assess quench their thirst. By them shall the fowls of heaven have their habitation, which sing among the branches. He watered the hills from his chambers; the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works. He causes the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man that he may bring forth food out of the earth. He appointed the moon for season; the sun knows his going down.” (Ps. 104: 10,11,12,13,14,19). How God uses things or elements to judge the world? In a vision, Jesus-Christ, the Son of the Living God and our savior, reveals to John His servant, the roles that the elements of nature are going to play in the great judgment day of the Lord: He saw “…There was great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood, and the stars of heaven fell into the earth, even as a fig tree casts her untimely figs when she is shaken of a mighty wind; and the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places; and the kings of the earth, and the great men and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; and said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of Him that sits on the throne; and from the wrath of the lamb” (Rev. 6: 12-16). It is clearly indicating in the scriptures that it is the angels of God that have the responsibility to activate all material things that causing wonders, or great occurrences on earth (see Rev. 8)
To all Naturalism, the decision to join other believers to worship the Lord God of hosts in giving him all the glory together for His marvelous works is now, because everything, and every animal, and every human being were created by Him. If you cannot believe that fact, you cannot also be among people who will have the privilege to see the new heaven, and new earth that He promises to people who was never rejected Him.
